nounSOUTH AFRICAN
1. a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity
2. Ubuntu (Zulu pronunciation: [ùɓúntʼù]) is a Nguni Bantu term meaning "humanity". It is sometimes translated as "I am because we are" (also "I am because you are"), or "humanity towards others" (Zulu umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu).

History teaches us that all sustainable change happens at the grassroots level and the ripple effect of those efforts results in greater waves of meaningful change. The late South African theologian Bishop Desmond TuTu popularized the term Ubuntu , which is translated “a person is a person through other people” or “I am because we are.”
The TCDC believes a community is the sum total of the “connected residents” who dwell and interact in that community. The source of many of the world’s problems can be found in people’s disconnection from one another and from their natural surroundings. In the spirit of “Unbuntu,” the TCDC aims to help neighborhoods discover their health, wealth and power in order to improve the quality of life for the residents and form healthier connected communities.
Connected community starts with the residents. We understand what you do for the community, without the community; you do to the community. Looking forward to being partners in neighborhood lead change.
