As the current Neighborhood Improvement Grant cycle comes to an end, Thomasville Community Development Corporation (TCDC) is celebrating the progress made possible through a $50,000 investment from the City of Thomasville while opening the door for a new group of residents, neighborhoods, and businesses to participate in the next grant cycle. Special thanks to Neighborhood Grant Committee members for steering the process!
Fourteen homeowners received assistance through the Home Improvement Grant Program.
These grants supported non-cosmetic home improvements, with an emphasis on creating safer, healthier homes and promoting long-term housing stability.
Four neighborhood projects received support through the Neighborhood Activity Grant Program, including shoe drives, neighborhood design charettes, and back-to-school drives.
These investments helped bring people together through community activities, projects, and shared spaces designed to strengthen relationships among neighbors and create a greater sense of community and belonging.
Three local businesses received matching grants through the Commercial Façade Grant Program. When a local business improves its property, the impact can extend beyond a single storefront. It can strengthen the appearance of an entire block, encourage additional investment, and help create commercial corridors where local businesses can grow and thrive.
Three families received assistance through TCDC's efforts to address wills and heirs-property prevention. While we are working on clearing 12 heirs' property titles in partnership with Georgia Heirs Property Law Center, these efforts will prevent future title issues.
This latest Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program demonstrates what can happen when community investment is intentionally connected to the people and places it is designed to serve, and we look forward to what the continued support and investment by the City of Thomasville will do for the neighborhoods we serve.
A New Grant Cycle Is Beginning
Even as TCDC brings the current grant cycle to a close, the next Neighborhood Improvement Grant cycle is already underway.
Applications are now being accepted until September 30 at 11:59pm EDT for three grant opportunities:
Home Improvement Grant — Assistance for eligible homeowners to make safety improvements to their biggest asset: their home, with priority placed on homes with occupants under 6 years of age, over 62 years of age and with greater financial need.
Neighborhood Activity Grant — Support for eligible neighborhood-based activities and projects that bring residents together, strengthen community connections, and improve quality of life.
Commercial Façade Grant — Assistance designed to support eligible exterior improvements to commercial properties and encourage continued investment in Thomasville's neighborhood business areas.
Residents, neighborhood groups, property owners, and businesses interested in these opportunities are encouraged to review the individual program requirements and submit an application for the grant that best fits their project before the deadline.
