REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS: James E. Wright House Rehabilitation

Seeking an experienced to help bring a historic property back to life

Thomasville Landmarks, Inc. and the Thomasville Community Development Corporation are seeking qualifications from licensed commercial contractors with experience in historic preservation and adaptive reuse for the rehabilitation of the historic Wright House.


Located at 531 Fletchers Street in Thomasville, the Wright House will be rehabilitated into a housing resource center serving our community. The selected Construction Manager will provide preconstruction and construction management services, including constructability review, cost estimating, scheduling, procurement coordination, and construction oversight.


Particular consideration will be given to firms that demonstrate both relevant historic rehabilitation experience and a meaningful, achievable approach to engaging qualified local and neighborhood-based contractors.

The James E. Wright House carries a remarkable history. Wright, a 1912 Tuskegee graduate who studied architecture and brick construction, is regarded as Thomasville's first Black architect. His house was originally located on East Jackson Street and has since been relocated to Fletcher Street. Find out more about Mr. Wright's life and legacy here.
