"Thomasville/TCDC among almost 800 cancelled environmental justice grants"

ree

We are disappointed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s recent decision to terminate a federal grant to the City of Thomasville that supported the Thomasville Community Development Corporation’s expansion of critical work in our community. This termination of the "Community Change Grant" does not reflect any issues with our local proposal or work but was part of the administration's blanket terminations over the past several days, of more than 700 lawfully awarded grants across the country funded through Congressionally-authorized programs.

While the administration’s decision brings a setback.  Our commitment to our community is unshaken. We are actively engaging with the City Government, State and Federal policy makers to advocate for the restoration of this funding. In the belief that this funding was unlawfully terminated and thus will ultimately be restored, we are continuing the background work to prepare for the critical community resilience and home improvement programs to be funded by this EPA grant.

Our mission remains the same: To improve the quality of life and wealth creation opportunities of Thomasville’s under-invested neighborhoods. The Thomasville Community Development Corporation remains committed to moving our community forward.
